Technology for Adelaide retail.

Selling in a shop and selling online should be one business with one stock figure. For most Adelaide retailers it is two businesses that disagree with each other, reconciled by hand on a Sunday.

One stock number POS and online joined Customers who come back

The core problem

Two systems, two stock counts, one very annoyed customer.

The classic retail failure is selling online something that walked out of the shop an hour earlier. It costs you the refund, the apology and usually the customer. It happens because the counter and the website are keeping separate books.

Fixing it is not glamorous — it is stock structure, location settings and a POS integration configured properly — but it removes an entire category of daily friction.

One stock figure

Counter sales and online sales drawing down from the same number, across multiple locations if you have them.

Click and collect

Buy online, pick up in store — the highest-margin online order you can take, because you pay nobody to ship it.

Payments that reconcile

In-store and online payments landing in your accounting with fees accounted for, rather than a lump sum to unpick.

Selling online

A store your team can actually run.

The measure of a good retail e-commerce setup is whether your Saturday casual can add a product and process a return without calling anyone.

  • Shopify set up with your products, variants and collections structured properly
  • Photos, descriptions and filtering that make the range shoppable
  • Shipping rules that reflect what postage actually costs you
  • Click and collect, local delivery and standard shipping options
  • Returns and exchange flows that do not require a developer
  • Gift cards, discounts and sale mechanics set up once
  • Staff training and written notes for the yearly tasks

Customers who come back

The cheapest sale is to someone who already bought from you.

Retailers spend most of their marketing budget on new customers and almost nothing on the ones who already know them. The sequences below run once set up and are, in our experience, the fastest return in retail after fixing stock.

Abandoned cart recovery

A short sequence for the carts that never checked out. It recovers a meaningful share and costs nothing per send.

Post-purchase follow-up

A thank you, care instructions where relevant, and a review request timed to when the item actually arrived.

Win-back

Customers who bought once and have not returned, contacted at a sensible interval with something relevant.

Back-in-stock alerts

Capturing demand for things you sold out of, instead of losing it silently.

VIP and repeat offers

Your best customers identified from actual purchase data rather than guesswork.

AI shopping assistant

Answers sizing, compatibility and stock questions on the site so uncertainty does not end the visit.

In the shop

The technology behind the counter.

  • POS hardware and setup, with a fallback for when the internet drops
  • Separate staff and customer Wi-Fi networks
  • Payment terminals on a stable, monitored connection
  • Stocktake process that does not require closing for a day
  • Backups of sales history and customer records
  • Microsoft 365 for rosters, suppliers and admin
  • Someone to call when the terminal will not connect on a Saturday

Questions

Before you ask us.

We only sell in store. Is online worth it?

It depends on what you sell and whether people search for it. For some ranges, click and collect alone justifies it. For others, being findable online with accurate stock is the value, even if most sales still happen at the counter. We will give you an honest read rather than assume the answer is yes.

Which POS works best with Shopify?

Shopify POS is the least friction if you are going all-in, because stock and customers are genuinely one system rather than two synced ones. If you already run a POS you are happy with, we will look at whether it integrates cleanly before recommending you change anything.

Can you migrate our existing online store?

Yes — products, customers, order history and, importantly, redirects so your existing search rankings and any links to your product pages survive the move.

How do we handle stock across two shops and a website?

Shopify supports multiple locations with stock tracked per location, and rules for which location fulfils an online order. It needs setting up deliberately rather than accepting the defaults, which is usually where it goes wrong.

What about our accounting?

Orders, fees and payouts can flow into Xero or MYOB automatically. This is one of the more valuable integrations for retail because the transaction volume makes manual reconciliation genuinely expensive.
